Woman Killed By Out-of-Control Car In L.I.

A woman and her dog were fatally struck by an out-of-control car on Union Boulevard in Long Island, police said. Skye Brunetti, 25, had just put her 4-year-old son onto a school bus moments before the accident, according to reports. She was on her way back to her East Islip home with her Alaskan husky, Jax, when a car lost control and jumped the curb, careening into her and a utility pole around 9 a.m., police said.

According to investigators, Brunetti may have had her back to traffic and did not see the car coming.

Brunetti was pronounced dead at the scene. The dog was also killed. The driver of the car, Barbara Cottone, 50, was transported to Southside Hospital and was listed in serious condition.

It was unclear what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

For grieving families, it’s important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
