16-Year-Old Boy Killed After Van Jumps Curb

A 16-year-old boy was killed and four college students and one other person were injured when a minivan jumped a curb and slammed into them near LaGuardia Community College earlier this morning.

Tenzin Drudak, a high school student, was killed in this pedestrian accident with the van.  The van was apparently speeding to make it through a yellow light.

The boy was stuck so hard, he was reportedly knocked out of his shoes.  Emergency workers tried to resusciate him, but he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

There has been a spike in pedestrian deaths over the last couple of months in New York City in these car accident cases.  Many of these car accident deaths have happened when a car jumps the curb, striking innocent people walking on sidewalk.  Several recent accidents have involved hit and run cars.  Most of the car accidents involve speeding cars.

This recent pedestrian killing comes on the heels of a Federal Agency recently shutting down another bus compay running its business out of Chinatown.  Regulators have discovered this bus company, Ming An Inc. was employing unlicensed drivers and was not performing drug tests on their employees.  They also allowed their drivers to keep working after receiving speeding tickets.

While regulators are focusing on these bus companies, other vehicles are not being forced to slow down on New York City streets.  Many witnesses of these recent pedestrian deaths have reported speeding vehicles being the cause of most of these accidents.

We have contacted several City of New York agencies to bring attention to this epidemic of car accidents resulting in the death of many people.  If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident, contact Duane Morgan of Morgan Levine Dolan for a free consultation.
