School bus accident injures 4 on Atlantic Avenue near Hicks Street in Brooklyn

Four people were hospitalized Thursday after a dramatic school bus crash in Brooklyn.

The yellow bus, carrying just the driver and a matron, was on Atlantic Ave. near Hicks St. about 1:30 p.m. when it slammed into another vehicle, flipped on its side, and then hit the front end of a pickup truck.

The bus driver, the matron, a motorist identified as a doctor from nearby Long Island College Hospital and a fourth person were taken to Kings County Hospital.

School bus accidents trigger a very strict and short time frame set of laws and regulations.  If the school bus is owned or maintained by the Department of Education or the Board of Education of the State of New York, there are Notice of Claim deadlines which quickly pass to unsuspecting injured people.
