Car Accident Injures 4-Year-Old Boy In Bethpage

A 4-year-old boy was in serious condition after the car he was riding in veered off the road and hit a tree on Long Island.

The boy’s grandfather, 65, was the driver of the 2008 Nissan Altima that carried the boy. The man lost control of the car, careened onto the sidewalk and slammed into a tree on Stewart Avenue and Arthur Avenue in Bethpage, officials said. The boy was strapped in a child’s seat.

Both the boy and the grandfather were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for head injuries. The grandfather suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
